Life at the bottom is brutal in a city where the poor are barely tolerated. But it's not just inequality Kaz must face. A deadly radiation-borne disease called the Scourge spreads, claiming victims indiscriminately. When her mother falls ill, a desperate Kaz must steal the medicine to save her.

Her luck changes when she stumbles upon her father's journal, which hints at a potential cure for the Scourge. However, the key to it lies beyond the tightly controlled world of Orion.

The choice for Kaz is brutally simple. Do nothing or venture to the surface—a place no one is meant to survive.
