WRITER TOOLS

I've tried many different resources over the years to help my writing career, but after lots of trial and error I've settled on a few that really work for me.

If you're a writer and you're not sure where to start, these are some of my personal recommendations.

I earn a small affiliate fee on some of these services, so if you'd prefer not to buy through my affiliate link, you can always go direct through the site.

Alliance of Independent Authors /

ALLi (The Alliance of Independent Authors) is a non-profit professional association for authors who self-publish.

Their alliance offers connection and collaboration, advice and education, advocacy and representation to writers who want to self-publish well.

optimize press

I use OptimizePress for my website design layout. I love the drag and drop page building tools. It takes the headache out of website designing. I like to control my content and this is the best way for me to do it.

I love Scrivener for getting the second draft into shape. You can reorder chapters with a few swipes, which makes it my number one choice for doing the technical edit.

canva

Canva is a free tool to help you design great looking promotional material or even a book cover (if you've got the eye for design). It's really easy to use and fun. There's a paid version too. Choose whichever version that suits your needs.

mailerlite

I use Mailerlite for all my newsletter needs. The interface is really easy to use and Mailerlite has a superb support team.

reedsy

If you're looking for an editor, book cover designer, marketing or publicity help, Reedsy combines a number of vetted services together in one place.
