Investigator Bill Taggart’s pain eases a little following his confrontation with the Indigene, Stephen. But his life upends a second time when he receives a set of coded letters, written by his presumed-dead wife. When news reaches him that the authorities have captured Stephen’s travel companion, Bill is forced to abandon the letters and enlist the help of his newest ally.

As Laura O’Halloran’s condition worsens, her one chance to move to sunny Exilon 5 slips further away. But an urgent call from Bill switches her focus from the transfer list to helping him find the missing Anton.

When their joint efforts to find the Indigene turns up nothing, Bill turns to his wife’s letters. They reveal a set of plans more disturbing than one Indigene's presumed fate.

Now Bill and Laura must warn the Indigenes against a new evil before the lives on both worlds descend into chaos.

BOOK 3

They faced their greatest challenge. The worst is yet to come.

Three weeks have passed since the unprovoked attack on District Three and Investigator Bill Taggart learned of his wife’s fate. His return to work attracts new travel restrictions just for him. But when Bill demands the conditions be lifted, his boss asks for a disturbing favour in return.

Laura O’Halloran embraces her new life after treatment for her debilitating condition. But her joy is short-lived when dangerous side-effects emerge that could mark the start of a new illness.

When a panicked Laura reaches out for help, Bill scrambles to her rescue. It soon becomes clear the Indigenes could be to blame for her illness. Worse, the World Government wants Bill to lure the Indigenes into a trap - a move that’s likely to start a war.

With his loyalties divided, Bill must accept that Laura’s cure could lie with his worst enemy. And accessing it might mean turning his back on his best allies.

There’s a dangerous new power on Earth.

Eight years after Genesis War and in a post-World Government era, criminal factions emerge to take control of the cities. Investigator Bill Taggart watches from afar as humanity faces a new threat in the guise of an unstable power.

When signs emerge that the factions are getting restless, Bill sends Indigenes back to Earth. His hope is they will join the fight against the criminals. But the factions capture those who return and put them to work in the curfew-controlled neighbourhoods.

An Indigene named Isobel is sold to one such neighbourhood. There the residents greet her with hostility, but when the factions threaten more than the residents’ livelihood, Isobel looks ready to choose a side.

With time running out for the residents, Bill must determine if Isobel will help liberate the people or betray them. Because the psychotic regime in charge is about to destroy what little peace remains.

Freedom comes at a high cost. For one, that cost could destroy everything.

Following treatment to reverse her genetic alteration, Isobel returns to Earth to reconnect with the husband she left behind. But on arrival, she is captured by the criminal factions controlling the cities and sold into slavery.

Marcus dreams of being more than the lackey of a crime boss on a lawless Earth. But to impress Gaetano Agostini, he will need to take command of the Indigenes who have returned.

When a rumour circulates that his boss wants him dead, Marcus is forced to seek help in the most unlikely of places. While Isobel plans a daring escape to confront her past, Marcus must face a sickening alliance with those he commands to protect his position on Earth.

After eight years spent in isolation the group, composed of former World Government elites, is active and stealing power from New London’s energy grid.

When Bill confronts Simon Shaw and Tanya Li, he discovers much altered beings from the humans they once were. Tanya says she wants the power to heal the weakest among them. But when Bill discovers an unlimited energy supply belonging to the Indigenes has been accessed, he suspects she’s lying.

Simon’s confirmation of his suspicions sends Bill into a panic. As Tanya inches closer to accessing the one place that could destroy the Indigenes, Bill knows he must act fast. To save humanity, he might need to rely on old foes to win this latest battle.
